Artist Statement

My work explores intuitive symbols and of sex and power based in an underlying investigation of energy and polarity. I am interested in the way abstract form produces metaphor and how this process influences inner and outer realities. I am inspired by mythologies and the way they can be used as personal technologies for self knowledge. How can language imprison as well as liberate the mind? How can intuitive modes of thought empower us individually and collectively? How can abstraction bypass conditioned patterns of behavior and thought? When do forms become symbols? I aspire to make work that creates a platform for conversations around these questions. I believe an archetypal reality exists behind the veil of the material world and I am working to contact it through my intuitively guided, process-based approach to art making. My work is my personal system of magick.
